  • The biggest difference is that I don't use pesticide-based products. Instead, I use a 100% dimethicone treatment that is non-toxic and works by physically coating and immobilizing lice rather than poisoning them. Because it works through a physical method, there are no concerns about pesticide resistance, which has become increasingly common with many over-the-counter treatments.

    Another major difference is the comb. The small plastic combs included with many over-the-counter kits aren't designed to effectively remove nits (eggs), especially those that are firmly attached to the hair shaft. I use a professional-grade stainless steel nit comb that is specifically designed to remove both lice and nits much more effectively.

    Perhaps the biggest difference is the service itself. I personally perform a meticulous comb-out to remove lice and nits—one of the most important steps in successfully treating an infestation. You'll also receive a customized follow-up plan and ongoing support if questions come up after your appointment, so you're never left trying to figure it out on your own.

  • Head lice do not have wings. They cannot fly, hop, or jump but they can crawl very quickly from one strand of hair to another.

    The vast majority of head lice are spread through direct head-to-head contact, which is why they are so common among children who play closely together.

    Although much less common, lice can also spread by sharing items that come into contact with the hair for extended periods, such as:

    • Hairbrushes and combs

    • Hats and helmets

    • Hair accessories

    • Scarves

    • Pillowcases or bedding that have been used very recently by someone with an active infestation

  • No. Human head lice only live on humans. They cannot survive on dogs, cats, or other household pets, and your pets cannot give head lice to people.

    Head lice are species-specific, meaning they have adapted to live only on the human scalp where they feed on human blood. If someone in your home has head lice, there is no need to treat your pets or worry that they are carrying the infestation.
